The Grouch & Eligh detail 3x album + Kickstarter

Long-time collaborators The Grouch & Eligh are proud to announce a triple album entitled The Tortoise and The Crow which will be released in February 2014. The triple disc will feature production from Pretty Lights, Ant of Atmosphere, Zion I’s Amp Live, Exile, DJ Fresh, Alexander Spit, Magi, and more. The project is broken into three distinct parts: a G&E joint effort entitled 333, a solo album from The Grouch entitled Lighthouses and a solo album from Eligh entitled Nomads. The duo have always been independent and have thus decided to forgo a label-backed release in favor of self-releasing the album and funding it through Kickstarter. Kickstarter prizes include a private G&E show, studio time with G&E, a verse from G&E, a guided tour of Maui, Hawaii with The Grouch, and much more.

“From four-track recordings and dubbed cassettes, all night sessions at Kinko’s and slanging tapes by hand on the streets of Oakland and [Los
Angeles] until we had enough money for bus fare and a slice, we’ve come a long way. Still, all we know is DIY [do-it-yourself] and we aren’t ashamed to say it. Ironically, with the music industry scrambling and desperate for any kind of sales, we could easily sign a record deal for our next album but that’s never been our style.” – The Grouch & Eligh

G&E have already released two music videos for songs that will appear on their forthcoming triple album. Most recently, “Run ft. Pigeon John” was released and previously, they teamed up with electronic music sensation Pretty Lights for “All These Lights”. The Pretty Lights collaboration was honed after the duo met Pretty Lights, a long-time G&E fan, in his home of Colorado. “We had a good rapport,” Grouch notes of meeting PL, and the trio united to challenge both of their core sounds.
