Guitars with addictive and catchy riffs mixed with some great bass lines. Awesome drum beats that shine in a pretty subtle way. And a voice that fits perfectly into each of the songs. These are the main ingredients in the latest album by The Jim Ivins Band, Everything We Wanted. And that’s only the first track “Run.”
“The Sight of Fire” has some differences in regards to the last song. It’s kind of more along the lines of “pop” and that will surely gladden the heart of more than one. “Lost My Mind” has a John Mayer/Jason Mraz vibe in it, although you may feel some influence too from bands such as The Fray or All Time Low. The guitar riffs are excellent, but the bass is more strongly present. Pretty much the same happens in “It’s Getting Better.”
“Emergency” so far is my favorite. It has a bit of what we’ve been hearing, but with some special effects that give a really awesome touch to the track. It’s definitely the heaviest and leaves out the former simple and cheerful sound to become a monster with excellent guitar solo and riffs. Everything works in such a beautiful way. The only bad thing is that it only lasts one minute and forty-two minutes.
“Everything We Wanted” finishes this record by getting back to the sound we heard in the first three songs. It’s fun, entertaining, and contagious.
In conclusion, this certainly is an album for those looking for music to sing, dance, and have a good time to. The sound invites the listener to just enjoy life.
