So let’s get started, who’s Kill The Messenger?
Danny Haddad-Drums, sings
Adam Rupp-Guitar, Screams and sings
Mike Valle- Bass!
Antho Valle-Lead Guitar
We are band from Daly City, CA (right outside San Francisco) We have been together for nearly 3 years. We can’t really classify our genre which we do not mind. We let the fans decide. All you need to know is that it sounds awesome!
How did you guys came together and created this band?
Danny and former guitarist Brent Rockwell had started a project with another childhood friend. After about a month they brought in Adam to play bass originally. But, in a few months Brent and Danny had about all they could take from the other original band member. They broke apart and began what came to be Kill The Messenger. They held on to Adam who ended up learning to play guitar for this band. Danny, who had the most experience playing guitar prior, ended up on drums. And Brent stayed on guitar. We brought in a vocalist and a bass player which became the original 5 man lineup. Many members later we have come to this lineup. It was not until recently that Brent decided to leave the band for personal pursuits. In essence the entire existence of this band was a mere accident. We do not know how it came to be but in an overwhelming feat only conceivable in a cheesy Hollywood movie script, this band was born…to save the world.
What are your music influences?
We have a collective variety of influences ranging from death metal to black metal, hard rock, metal core, hardcore, OG rock n roll to blues. Some of our main influences are As I Lay Dying, In Flames, Parkway Drive, CKY, Devin Townsend, Trivium, Pantera and many more. Seriously, A LOT MORE.
How was it to play in I’m On A Boat Fest?
Well it was interesting to say the least….If there was ever a lesson that needed to be learned about the music industry we learned it here. It was fantastic, don’t get us wrong. The atmosphere was great. It was not too cramped and there was a lot of rising talent as well as established bands. The sound was awesome and the boat was overflowing with people. We even got to hang out with all the bands that were there. Everything was dandy up until the moment we played. We got to play alongside All Shall Perish. Did we say alongside…we meant across…at the same exact time. The crowd there was great but whatever potential we had went to the All Shall Perish pit. We were promised we’d get to play with All Shall Perish and well, we did.
So there are some new music video rumours. Any details/insights you guys can tell us?
Well….we don’t want to give away too much. All you have to know is that it is going to be ridiculous-in the most awesome way possible. The song we are doing it for is going to remain classified (it is a cover, but not the likes of which you have heard) but if we reach 3,000 likes on our Facebook page, we will release the song and if the timing is right, the video as well. For now our scheduled date for the shoot is tentatively early June. Believe us, you don’t want to delay this. Get the news out, get metal, and get sexy. WINK.
You guys are also working on a new single. Can you tell us more about it? Any title, official release date?
Yes, we’d love to. It is a masterpiece titled “Curse of Broseidon.” It will serve as the second installment in our epic series of “Broseidon” songs. You can find the first one on our EP A New Beginning(available on iTunes), called “Broseidon, King of the Brocean.” We want to release the new song in Spring some time, hopefully sooner. We are finalizing it and will be going to a studio soon.
Are there any more plans for the future we should be aware of?
We hope to tour very soon. We want to at least go to a couple of stops up and down the West Coast, through Oregon, Washington and of course our lovely California. However, we are not against branching out more *cough cough* Vegas. If we get enough demand we can go anywhere! The past six months have been rougher than cactus toilet paper but we will be coming back stronger than ever. OH YEEEEE ( Macho Man voice)
What has been the funniest moment you guys have been or took part while touring or playing a gig?
We played a show at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood. Man, that entire trip was a shit show. We were all sleep deprived and cranky….not a good way to start. Then, you had some people, not to be named, practically shitting themselves the entire drive which caused further lack of sleep. Seriously, someone farted so hard the smell alone woke up the entire car. Then there was the flimsy ass U-Haul which looked less reliable the more and more we drove it. Then there was the constant threat of our bassist at the time, David, kicking us out in Bakersfield and taking the car back on a joy ride. We would like to say this part was a joke but honestly we were all scared to shit. Some of us, literally. For god’s sakes he threatened us with a banana. We have video proof*. Then, there was the crack heap called Hollywood. Crazy people everywhere. Danny would attract homeless crackheads constantly. We do not know why but one followed us around harassing the living shit out of us. Holy fuck, we just ran away. Then the show itself. Oh my….Brent freaked out for some reason. He had a panic attacke and nearly clocked Adam. Then Danny, the fucking rabbit boy, chugged a 32 oz Redbull and played everything at 500,000 bpms which caused Adam to vomit after the show after nearly hawking up a lung. Then later we couldn’t sleep because fart troll extraordinaire, Brent Rockwell stunk up the hotel room. We banished him to the kitchen. We’ll cut it short but all in all it was a memorable, hilarious trip we will never forget.
