Frank Palangi

Hey Frank! Welcome back to VENTS Magazine. How have you been?

I’ve been well and busy 2012 year for sure! A growing process this year with reaching out to new audiences and moving forward in my career. I’ve been blessed with opportunities, appreciating each one. This month I’ve got an “I AM READY” ad in GUITAR WORLD magazine issue with Led Zeppelin and they just issued an online press release about who I am and my tunes.

Tell us more about yourself, for those who haven’t heard from you before or catched the interview we did to you a while back?

Bringing creativity that remolds the mainstream rock genre and busts out thought provoking lyrics while arranging a positive outlook for the modern audience. Slamming energy and new life onto airwaves with a sonic blend of melodies, that speaks to the listeners. I’m a Upstate, NY singer, songwriter, and artist whose music ranges from acoustic rock to heavier flavors who writes, creates and develops my own music. One of the most important things is interaction and standing tall for a positive influence for my fans. From emails, to social media everyday, to personal phone calls to shows with talking, taking pictures and hanging at the merch booth and walking around personally getting to know people, is easy for fans to get to know me and where they can hear, see, and connect.

What are your music influences?

Metallica, Megadeth, Ozzy, Godsmack, Creed, Day of Fire, Three Days Grace, Def Leppard, Johnny Cash, Goo Goo Dolls, Daughtry.

I Am Ready. How was the recording and writing process, especially different to your past record? How you came out with the album’s title? Any official release date in mind?

2013 brings new light and exposure with a full length album titled “I AM READY”. The single “I AM READY” is to me a solid modern rock track that attracts your attention and is not the traditional cookie cutter material with raw ambition. Made since to me to call the album that. Members of signed acts like “Pillar” and Grammy nominated band “Day of Fire” with singer Josh Brown (former Full Devil Jacket) has performed working with me and it was fun! I took my EP session and re-mixed/re-mastered and put a new set of vocals on there. I didn’t get to work with Day of Fire again since the past EP record because they are no longer a band. Working with new producer and different players this time is part of what I love being a solo artist. Lester Estelle is a solid act drummer and in the country hall of fame but he’s all rock to me. I recorded the vocals here in Upstate, NY and that was different not working directing with my producer for that part of the process but Rob Coates and I have were in contact throughout.

How was it to work with Rob Croates?

From Nashville, TN, who has worked with many mainstream and Grammy nominated artists, brings that raw, solid, and modern twist with honest, determined, and my motivating personally to life. I glad to call him a friend and working with him on a few tracks has been awesome! Very down to earth and really cares about the artist. He likes rock, I like rock and we see eye to eye. He is very good and talented at what he does which includes producing, mixing, mastering.

So how was it to performed/play with Josh Brown of Day of Fire, FUEL, Trapt and Pillar?

Working with Day of Fire on my EP was awesome! They are one of my influences was a surreal experience thinking, is this really happening?

Lester and Noah from Pillar are stand up guys and I think we really connected with what I’m trying to achieve.

Opening for those national artists this year (FUEL, TRAPT, YOUNG GUNS, HURT, JESSE MALIN) have been awesome! Some shows I’ve had a band backing and others just acoustic but either way has helped me grow as an artist and get to know that side of the business. Everyone does a great job and looking forward to expanding! I’ve got to see the Northeastern area here in the U.S and meet some great people.

You are opening for Jan Sirsy. How you feel about that?

Amazing! We’ve been trying for 2 years to get something together but either my schedule or theirs didn’t add up. This will be an awesome acoustic show and can’t wait to talk with them.

So you are planning to hit the road?

You can always plan :). 2012 I played out a few times every week and I’m sure I will continue that into Spring/Summer 2013. Tours are tough with funds (being an independent), getting to point A to B sometimes, and depending on if there is even any $ in it. I would love to jump on a bigger tour if that artist would like to have me and believe in what I do. I’m always networking and learning everyday trying to setup for the future.

Since the last time we spoke, has there being any funny moment you have been envolved while touring?

Some older ladies getting on stage (while just playing acoustic cover “RING OF FIRE”) and dancing around a poll!! Kills me with a few of the nationals artist’s personalities too. Some are funny and really personable and others you couldn’t say a word or get a picture with, EVER. I don’t know if this is funny but I did sign a teddy bear…lol

Are there any more plans for the future?

You bet! 2013 full album, shows, press, media with promising new outlets that will lead me to who knows where!

I see things happening every week moving forward and expanding and with the internet at my side, it’s been a blessing.

Do you still think you’re moving on the right direction?

For being an independent and doing what I can with my funds, knowledge and determination, yes. I work hard at what I do and no one can take that away. I live and breath my career. Everyday. I’ve had interest with labels, and other areas but all about seasoning, when things are ready and it’s meant to be, I’ll be ready. I can feel it that more doors will be broken into and that ladder of moving up will bring me the best promise. I’m just on the tip of the edge, ready to jump!
